Quantum Women's new event series Under the Hood is designed to foster professional connections in the quantum tech industry and empower female talent to land their dream jobs with dream teams. On 24th May, we hosted a virtual session with Q-CTRL, one of the quantum industry's hottest companies!
Q-CTRL is making quantum technology useful; through its infrastructure software products, the company is accelerating the path to quantum advantage. They look for world-class talent from diverse backgrounds that eager to make a global impact.
The audience heard from a multidisciplinary team of experts (Christina Maresca, Rowen Wu, Dr Yuval Baum) who provided:
A comprehensive overview of Q-CTRL's role in the quantum tech industry and their company values.
Personal experiences and insights from their time at Q-CTRL.
Discussed what diversity looks like at Q-CTRL, the various roles and responsibilities, and the types of backgrounds they seek as they build high-performing teams.
The speakers discussed the importance of building diverse teams in quantum computing and the value brought by individuals from various backgrounds. They highlighted that there is no fixed path into quantum computing, as the industry requires a mix of talents from various fields. The importance of fostering a supportive, inclusive culture was also emphasized.
The talent acquisition process was covered, noting that Q-CTRL is open to all kinds of talent, not just those with a background in quantum physics. This includes individuals from diverse locations, backgrounds, and skill sets.
The speakers also spoke about the importance of active participation in the quantum community for aspiring talents, suggesting people join various forums, participate in virtual hackathons, and attend conferences. They also discussed the role of talent communities, which can serve as a platform for individuals to connect with companies, learn about job opportunities, and keep up to date with company updates.
After the panel discussion, participants seized the opportunity to ask questions during a dedicated Q&A session.
The goal with our Under the Hood series is to spark the creation of long-lasting relationships between employers and future quantum tech talent, introduce potential candidates to a wide range of career opportunities, provide a platform for employers to showcase their technology, people, and culture, and ultimately promote diversity and inclusion in the quantum tech industry.
